English as a Second Language (ESL)
YWCA Elgin offers ESL classes to adults who want to improve their English speaking.
The YWCA Elgin offers online and in-person English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. Our classes include spoken language, writing, computer and tablet use, group activities involving public issues, job readiness, basic health education, and money management.
The YWCA Elgin makes learning fun! During the school year, students take field trips, learn to use computers, practice conversational English, and apply their English skills to participate in the community. Once students advance to higher levels, they can take specialized courses to help prepare them for college and career pathways.
All classes are taught by experienced instructors and grouped by skill level to help learners progress at their own pace. Whether you're working toward a personal goal, a job opportunity, or supporting your family, we're here to help you move forward.
Are you interested in English classes but have a child who needs to come to school with you? The YWCA Elgin also offers a Family Literacy Program, which annually enrolls 40 ESL families.
