Take 2 Creative Camp

“It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to start a clothing line or create video tutorials. Maybe you want to advocate for a cause. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the Take 2 Creative Camp can teach you how to make your project come to life using the latest technology.”

What is Take 2 Creative Camp?

The YWCA Elgin Take 2 Creative Camp is a summer program for students between 12 and 15 years old. This program teaches teens how to use technology to explore their creativity and be confident in voicing their opinions on multiple platforms. They will work with computers, cameras, tablets, and different software programs to create a variety of content about themselves and the Elgin community. The students will embark on various field trips and document their adventures.

By participating in the Take 2 program, students will learn different skills they can apply in school and everyday life. These skills include developing and executing ideas, thinking outside the box, being confident to try new things, public speaking, meeting deadlines, working with peers, working individually, and using technology efficiently and effectively.

Throughout the summer, the Take 2 students will get to write scripts, edit video footage, direct videos, use a green screen, shoot videos, create vlogs and blogs, star in videos, volunteer, and go on field trips.

At the end of each summer, the Take 2 Creative Camp hosts a Red Carpet event. During the Red Carpet event, students get the opportunity to show off their masterpieces to their friends, family, and the Elgin community.

Over the past few years, Take 2 students have used their creativity to create podcasts, videos, vlogs, clothing lines, books that are available for purchase on Amazon, coloring pages, video games, artwork, tutorials, fundraisers, and more!
