You Are Invited to Attend the 28th Celebration of Women’s
Join us on March 7th from 11 am to 1:30 pm at the Elgin Community College Business Center for the 28th annual Women’s History Month Brunch!
Enjoy a delicious lunch while learning all about artist Jane Peterson, as presented by Linda Rock.
Jane Peterson, born and raised in Elgin, was once considered one of America’s most original and influential artists. Critically and popularly acclaimed, her paintings hang in museums across the country, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum.
Peterson’s popularity, however, waned as the innovative painting techniques reflected in her works were eclipsed by abstract art. Though all but forgotten at the time of her death, a 2018 retrospective of her oeuvre has brought her back into the public eye. Linda Rock’s presentation will showcase not only Peterson’s paintings but also the life of a most remarkable woman.
