The overall goals and objectives are expressed in our local mission "Creating Opportunities for Woman and Families". The YWCA Elgin strives to create opportunities for women's growth, leadership in order to attain a common vision of peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people while eliminating racism, which is a driving force for YWCA USA.

In YWCAs across the globe, there are have more than 25 million members in 106 countries, including 2.6 million members and participants in 300 local associations in the United States.

More important than the numbers, is our mission to eliminate racism and empower women. We provide safe places for women and girls, build strong women leaders, and advocate for women's rights and civil rights in Congress.

We have made progress, but we still have a long way to go
